So have a look at a photo of some yarn instead and I'll tell you about craft weekend another time.
Yesterday Son #1 broke his wrist so thoroughly it required surgery and two nights in hospital. Two nights! Hopefully he gets to come home tomorrow. He's fine, and not in much pain any more so please don't worry on our behalf, just send us some good sleep vibes if you would.
It's been quite A Hospital Weekend. On Friday night I went straight from work to the Royal Children's Hospital to visit my niece who was flown from Tasmania to Melbourne for spinal surgery ten days ago. Then all of yesterday and today we've been at the Austin, having our own medical adventure. Oh, and Mr Soup has gone away for the weekend (naturally) to a place about four hours drive away, and they all went in the one car so he can't get home. Hmmm. Not clever.
Anyway I've come home to feed the other children and fold eleventy loads of laundry (and um, blog. Priorities, people!) and now we're all going back for an hour or so to kiss him goodnight and leave him some clean undies for tomorrow.
Life. Never dull.
* turned out to be three days

It would seem that I really need to remember how to knit. We have long hospital stays in our future this year.
Sending decent night of sleep vibes your way. Oh what a weekend it's been for you. Hope your boy's wrist mends and all the other surgeries go okey dokey. Wow. That's you done for the year, all smooth sailing from here.
Poor boy. Poor you. Once he's home, he may begin to enjoy the telling of the tale to his mates....
Lovely yarn - are you going to show us the results?
Glad everything's ok (or as ok as is possible) - sending lots of sleep vibes, and no more hospital visits for a long time!
Poor all of you. I hate hospitals with a passion. Hope the boy mends quickly. Have a big gin and tonic when it's all over. x.
Must be so awful, especially with Mr Soup being away. I'm glad you have knitting to occupy you though x
Oh darling... how shitful /stressful.
Hope your man gets back to as quickly as possible..and lots of good sleep vibes being sent your way.
Sheesh. Kids never do it by halves, do they? Tres glad to hear that things are on the mend. May the Sleep Gods wave their wands upon all the Soups.
Oh, Horribleness.
I am the worst hospital visitor ever. i would hate it to be one of my children. Hope he is better soon.
Life is never dull!
Poor you, poor him. At least knitting makes these things slightly more bearable (they always happen when the other half's away, don't they?)
Thank heavens for knitting! Speedy recovery and sleep long and well.
Always good to have yarn close at hand for times like this.
Glad he is on the mend, but Oy! Hope he heals quickly and well...and that blessed, restful sleep comes to you all.
Having been in almost exactly the same situation a few years ago I have sooo much sympathy for you - hope you get to catch up on some sleep soon! PS If it helps at all what I remember as possibly one of the worst times in my life - he remembers as a huge adventure - guess I should be grateful for that huh!
Glad #1 is okay then.
And the niece?
Sending all manner of good thoughts to you and yours.
xo
Oh, bless your heart, sweet friend!
Hope you're getting some good sleep, even as we speak.
xoxoxo
So sorry to hear of your latest adventures. I'm sending lots of good sleep wishes your way, and healing thoughts as well. I hope your son and niece both recover quickly and well. In the meantime, keep knitting!
Sending you deep lavender-filled sleep vibes.
You'll forever look at those socks and think 'that was the crazy weekend of the broken wrist and endless hospital trips'.
Hoping everyone is back on the mend very soon.
Sounds like a dose of Life. Pesky old Life. Hope the family (individually and as a whole) is doing ok.
Ohhhh my goodness it is all happening with you! I hope your sons are ok. I also have about eleventy loads of washing to sort through too!:-)
Healing thoughts for Son #1 and good, restful thoughts to the rest of the Soups.
Safe travel home for Pater Soup, too.
Oh No! Hopefully you're all home safely by now -- and I hope your son isn't in too much pain. And look at the bright side -- Socks!!!
Oh goodness. What a thing.
Sending you sleepy, drowsy thoughts.
:-( Hope you all will get some great sleep and Son will come out of the hospital.
Good grief, what a few days you've had. I so hope the knitting helped soothe away any stress. Hope he mends super soon.
oh dear...heal well son!
Ay ay ay, what a life. Many good nights' sleep wished upon you and your house. At least you have a cat to help with the naps. Very restful, they are.
Speedy recovery to all hospitalised, and also to Mr Soup, who must endure the Endless Dark Night In The Dogbox for daring to be beyond recall at a Time Of Need.
What a ghastly weekend !
I hope both patients are comfortable now and will soon be on their way home .
As for your husband not being there .... my youngest waited till her father was away on his own , and incommunicado for the first time in fifteen years to have to have her appendix out . Pity I couldn't knit .
Oh Suse, hope things are improving!! I hope you got lots of knitting done.....and that the wrist 'knits' together well also....and quickly and painlessly.
Oh, no! hope the sun keeps shining to get those eleventy loads of washing dry and that all goes well with the healing of the wrist.
Ahk! Hope he's feeling much better now, and that it heals up OK.
Hope all is well now. Sometimes dull is good.
