You can scrub the bath and clean the toilet. Empty all the bins and rearrange the pantry jars. Consider the ironing basket.
You can take a wander around the garden, admiring the new spring growth …

pull out masses of weed grasses (not forgetting to place them in a black plastic bag in the sun to kill the seeds) …

and stop to admire the good (native) grasses growing in the path …

and the Valencia orange tree your husband bought you as a late anniversary present.

You can make a pocket tissue holder.

You can make three. Spring can be a bugger for runny noses.

You can photograph some of these stalling techniques for future reference and then blog about them to prolong the dilly-dallying a tad further.
But eventually you will have to turn around and face the demon. And hereby promise not to go near the party side of the computer until the 3000 words are spewed.

I rescued a tissue holder that looked exactly like this one at a certain after school shop stall yesterday, as it blew across the schoolyard in the wind.
Fancy that?
Go and do some work.
You mean you haven't been through all your kids clothes deciding which should be handed down through your family, which you can put in goodwill, which ones you can cut and stitch tissue holders from...use that as your 1500 words reward.
word verification: tomeoe. Mmmhmmm.
send me some of your baked goods? Sounds jummy, sooo jummy! And I'm not in a baking mood today, maybe tomorrow I'll make brownies or something..
Hmm, maybe I should bake it today, it tastes so much better the next day and it would be nice to have it tomorrow.
Why did you put baking in my head right now?? ;)
By the way; do you have and can you send me, the recipe of that sticky toffee cake?? Sounds tasteful!
Now the brownies are finished ;)
But I would still like that recipe of sticky toffee cake ;)
I hope you are not reading these comments as a procrastinating tool! If so...Get Back To Work!
Ahh, Procrastination, I know it well.

Your paving sound delicious!
WV owdcz!
Love the illustrated walk round your life! It was almost a poem.
You see, the ability to procrastinate is another skill we share. I reckon, if you and I had a procrastination competition, it would be impressive from all angles and probably end in a tie.
oh man. the party side is so much fun.
Isn't it amazing how the bathroom tiles, the laundry and the 'need to bake' suddenly take on another higher priority... I remember when I was studying I lived in a flat with a balcony the urge to visit the local park to see if the gardner was keeping the roses, weeds, duckpond - what ever in check... It would keep me absorbed for hours (one has to do a thorough job!!!) Funnily enough the literature essay was not so inclined to do the same...Take care and good luck with it...
I now realise that my years and years of Solitaire, Freecell and Minesweeper are the signs of a complete amateur! Productive procrastination has never really occurred to me - I'd always thought on some level that just sitting at the computer bestowed some level of virtue! Or I'd tell myself that I was just taking a break to "think about" that next paragraph.
All power to ya!
I can so relate to this post!! I think I have a procratination phase with every essay!! And the burning desire to create something other than words is enormous too!! Good luck with the 3000 words - I hope it was a topic that made the spewing of the words easy and not too much wretching was needed!!!!!
....procrastination....why doesn't blogger have automatic spell check!!
Hee!
Your procrastination reaps some lovely rewards!
I am now in a stage of life where my uni study IS procrastination. Which means my essays get done all sparkly quick and then polished and buffed while my other stuff sits accumulating particles of guilt and dust.
I love procrastination.
Ooh! I recognize some pretty rosy fabrics! :)
I like the way you procrastinate as well. Some of my most productive moments are from just such procrastinations.
so, did you finsh the essays?
